Green.Jay

"Green Jay" is one of my earliest attempts at pastel.  I first encountered these birds on our family ranch northwest of Laredo.  Also known as the Mexican Jay, they are now common in the northern part of the Coastal Bend (Bee County), and have added their flashing green, yellow and blue, together with their harsh calls, to the array of birds that populate south Texas.  Based on a photo by Cissy Beasley, Coast & Cactus Photography.
